Unity Fair celebration of diversity

Outdoor gathering with many people, some seated, under trees and tents, including Sacramento County Park Rangers and California Highway Patrol.
Today's 1st Annual Unity Fair at Howe Park was a big success

There was a big celebration of our community's diversity at Howe Park today, with special emphasis on the local Afghan population. The event was very well attended - maybe 1500 people or so. It was sponsored by Sacramento County and Supervisor Desmond in partnership with Lao Family Community Development, the SIV & Refugee Resettlement Center and the Refugee Enrichment and Development Association and it was hosted by the Fulton-El Camino Recreation and Park District. There were information booths presented by numerous county departments, the Sheriff's POP and HOT teams, Metro Fire, the Sacramento Library System and the FEC Rec&Park District plus non-profit organizations, along with representatives from the offices of State Senator Neillo and Congressman Bera. There were several food trucks as well. Congratulations to all for a very successful event!
