The Presidential Primary Election is on March 3rd and we encourage every eligible voter to participate. On the local ballot are elections for our Member of Congress, our Member of the Assembly, our Supervisor, County political party central committee members, a state bond for schools construction and a Los Rios Community College district bond measure. This election is of particular significance for us denizens of unincorporated Arden Arcade because of the open seat for County Board of Supervisors District 03. You won’t find an endorsement for that office here on this blog because ours is not a political organization. Instead, as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, we practice community education. In that vein we now offer as a public service, some information about how and where registered voters in Arden Arcade can cast a ballot. You can:

• Mail your ballot to the County in the pink envelope they sent you, or
• Drop off your voted ballot at any “Drop Center” in the County from Feb. 3rd to March 3rd, or
• Drop off your voted ballot or vote in person at any “Vote Center” in the County from Feb. 22 to March 3rd.

LOCALLY IN ARDEN ARCADE, there are Drop Centers at the Arcade Library on Marconi and the Arden-Dimick Library on Watt. Arden Arcade’s Vote Centers are at (zip code 95825) the Community Center in Howe Park, (zip code 9521) the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer on Marconi at Mission, and (zip code 5864) Rio Americano HS plus the Arden-Dimick Library. The County’s Voter Information Guide has more information about those locations along with their voting dates and hours.

As before, the guide won’t tell you those places are in Arden Arcade. You would have to look for them in the listings for “Sacramento” locations, even though they are not in “Sacramento”. The Voter Guide treats other unincorporated places in Sacramento County with more respect: Antelope, Carmichael, Courtland, Fair Oaks, Gold River, Herald, North Highlands, Orangevale, Rancho Murietta, Rio Linda, Walnut Grove and Wilton all get recognition. We don’t, nor do some others like Elverta, Florin, Foothill Farms or the South Sac “finger”. To paraphrase George Orwell, all unincorporated places are equal, but some are more equal than others.
